Canada Ranks Number 1 in Social Purpose Ranking 

For the first time, in 2021, the Best Country Ranking by U.S. News included a Social Purpose subranking. Canada ranked No. 1 in the Best Country category, and also ranked first for caring about human rights and commitment to social justice. The Social Purpose subranking is based on an equally weighted average of scores from 11 country attributes that relate to how strongly its people advocate for societal causes: whether they care about human rights, care about the environment; support gender equality and religious freedom; respect property rights; are trustworthy; and have well-distributed political power. Four additional attributes include being seen to care about racial equity, care about animal rights; are committed to climate goals and committed to social justice.
