Université de Hearst announced on March 14 that it will offer its first graduate program beginning in the fall of 2022. The Graduate Diploma in Psychotherapy (GDTP) is a university program based on the competency profile of the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). It is a full-time 39 credit program that can be completed within a 12-month window. Université de Hearst is the only francophone institution in Ontario to offer graduate training leading to CRPO eligibility. Therefore, directly after graduation, it will be possible to apply for admission to CRPO to obtain membership status, namely as a registered psychotherapist. Université de Hearst has recognized the urgency of adapting in order to continue training mental health professionals who are aware of the need to offer bilingual services in Ontario communities to counter the critical shortage of staff throughout Ontario.
