Celebrating Francophonie in Canada
The Rendez-vous de la Francophonie (RVF) is one of the cultural events organized in celebration of International Francophonie Day (March 20), which promotes the French language and its many expressions across Canada every year. It is an initiative of the Canadian Foundation for Cross-Cultural Dialogue, which has a mandate to promote dialogue and forge closer ties between Francophone communities. Several activities will take place throughout March, such as multicultural meetings, performances, film screenings, contests and educational activities. The theme 2022 is Tradition. The Rendez-vous de la Francophonie highlights the values of inclusion by highlighting the contribution of people from different backgrounds across Canada, allowing everyone to share their Francophone identity and culture. There are about 50 events taking place in Ontario during the Rendez-vous de la Francophonie, here are a few:- The Tracés collectifs event targets young entrepreneurs who want to enter the corporate world to make a positive impact on their community and its environment, Ontario is filled with entrepreneurial opportunities.
- Interested in social media? There is the Série d’Atelier: Réseaux sociaux 101. The workshops will focus on different platforms, strategies and will analyze the application of these.
- To learn more about resources for Francophones and about the cooperative model, attend the workshop: l’Atelier : L'avantage du modèle coopératif pour les communautés immigrantes francophones. The community model involves the collaboration of various small organizations so that communities become close-knit.
- Ontario is home to a diverse Francophone community that includes many accents, origins and customs; L’Activité : Venez raconter vos récits francos! is an opportunity to share memories, cultures, and identities and to create links with other Francophones.
