Laurentian Alumna Named 2021 Sudbury Young Woman of Distinction  

Ra’anaa Brown, a graduate of Laurentian University’s McEwen School of Architecture, is the recipient of YWCA’s 2021 Sudbury Woman of Distinction award.   

Ra’anaa Brown earned the award for her efforts in being a co-founder of Sudbury’s Black Lives Matter chapter. She was also a founding member of McEwen School of Architecture’s Nuit Blanche, an organization that celebrates the prosperity of the art scene in Sudbury. Additionally, Ra’anaa played a leadership role in Sudbury’s Up Here festival. 

The award was presented by YWCA Sudbury, an organization that aims to empower women and their families to reach their full potential in body, mind, and spirit. The organization celebrated Ra’anaa Brown at the virtual 2021 Women of Distinction Virtual Awards Gala in January.
