Recognizing Competencies for Success as an International Professional

September 2021 – “Over the past decades, emerging markets have become attractive to many companies looking to expand their business internationally and employ talent from diverse cultures. Canada was one of the forerunners of this trend towards internationalization, which gives [the country] a real advantage.”

In response to this paradigm shift, new research by A.J. Corner of the Telfer School of Management at the University of Ottawa has identified three necessary skills required to succeed as an employee working at a multinational level. These are: to recognize different perspectives, manage relationships effectively and plan for uncertainty.
