Travailler comme suppléante en Ontario a une foule d’avantages
Une tonne d’occasions
En Ontario, il y a présentement un grand manque d’enseignants et de suppléants dans les écoles, et encore un plus grand manque d’enseignants francophones. Pour cette raison, il y a un grand nombre d’occasions pour faire de la suppléance. Comme je complète un diplôme en communications, avec une mineure en études françaises, je me gardais toujours la porte ouverte pour pouvoir être enseignante de français si je le désirais. C’est donc pour ces raisons que j’ai décidé de postuler pour être suppléante au Conseil Scolaire Viamonde. Le processus fut rapide, et vite j’étais embauchée.
Un aperçu du métier d’enseignant(e)
Au campus Glendon, plusieurs étudiants sont dans le programme d’éducation, et complètent également un diplôme en études françaises comme moi. J’ai également plusieurs amies qui font de la suppléance dans les conseils scolaires français en Ontario. C’est une expérience incroyable puisqu’on a la chance de découvrir une profession. On peut développer plusieurs compétences qui sont importantes pour l’enseignement comme les habiletés en communication, le travaille avec les enfants et l’animation de groupes.
Un emploi flexible pour les étudiants
Comme étudiante d’université impliquée sur le campus, je suis très occupée. La suppléance me permet de travailler quand j’ai le temps, ou bien quand je l’ai de besoin. Sur le site internet, je peux choisir mes heures de disponibilité, et ainsi choisir quand je veux travailler. C’est important pour moi, puisque je veux m’assurer de me concentrer sur mes études tout en pouvant travailler. Je trouve alors que la suppléance est une très bonne expérience et une bonne occasion de travail flexible pour les étudiants.
Un environnement accueillant
Une fois avoir accepté une tâche de suppléance, je me rends à l’école pour l’heure désignée et j’entre dans le secrétariat. À chaque fois, les enseignants sont accueillants et prêts à m’aider pour quoi que ce soit, puisque chaque jour de suppléance apporte de nouvelles expériences.
En effet, mes expériences de suppléances fut positives et m’ont permis d’apprendre énormément au sujet de l’enseignement et de développer diverses compétences importantes pour non seulement le marché du travail, mais pour mon éducation et ma vie personnelle aussi. A Ton of Opportunities
In Ontario, there is currently a lack of teachers and substitute teachers in the schools and an even greater shortage of francophone teachers. For this reason, there are many opportunities to substitute teach. As I am completing a degree in communications, with a minor in French studies, I was always keeping the door open to be a French teacher if I so desired. It was for these reasons that I decided to apply to be a substitute teacher on the Viamonde School Board. The process was quick, and I was soon hired.
An Overview of the Teaching Profession
At Glendon Campus, a large number of students are in the bachelor of education program and are also completing a French Studies degree like me. I also have many friends that are substitute teachers in French school boards in Ontario. It is an incredible experience because you are given the chance to discover the profession. You get to develop many abilities that are important for teaching such as communication skills, working with children and group leadership.
Flexible employment for students
As a university student involved on campus, I am very busy. Substitute teaching allows me to work when I have time, or when I need to. On the website, I can choose my hours of availability, and thus choose when I want to work. This is important to me, as I want to make sure that I can focus on my studies while still being able to work. I then find that being a substitute teacher is a very good experience and a good flexible work opportunity for students.
An Overview of the Teaching Profession
Once I have accepted a substitute teaching assignment, I go to the school for the designated time and enter the office. Each and every time, the teachers are welcoming and willing to help me with anything, as each day of substitute teaching brings new experiences.
Indeed, my experiences as a substitute teacher have been positive and have allowed me to learn a great deal about teaching and to develop various skills that are important not only for the job market but for my education and my personal life as well.
