The city of Sudbury has a long history in the mining industry, and post-secondary education in the region is reflective of that. Among our members with campuses in Sudbury, Collège Boréal has programs in Construction technician in mining and civil and Construction engineering technology – civil and mining while Laurentian offers a world-class Mining Engineering program.

Nadia Mykytczuk, a Microbiologist at Laurentian and an expert in the field of biomining and bioremediation, has recently joined the strategic advisory board of BachTech Environmental, a mining company in Toronto that seeks to “conduct mining activities in a safe and responsible way”. One major goal of the company is to recover precious metals from South America to be treated in Sudbury.

At Avantage Ontario, we love to share our members’ accomplishments and to see our members collaborating on projects that are environmentally conscious at an international level.
